The Village by the
Arboretum (VBA) is a development of 488 single-family detached and town homes, as well as mid-rise condominiums,
built on a 112-acre site leased by Reid's Heritage Homes from the University of Guelph. Located adjacent to the
University's 500-acre Arboretum, the VBA offers an active adult lifestyle within the Guelph city limits and near
the cultural offerings of a large university and a vibrant urban community. There is a large Recreation Centre
with an indoor pool, auditorium and many activity rooms.
A Residents' Association (VBARA), formed in 1994, is responsible for representing the general interests of the
Village residents to the landlord, the University of Guelph, governments and other organizations. The VBARA's function
is social and advisory in nature. Several committees have been established, including a Support Group, a Membership
Committee and a Social Committee which organizes monthly coffee hours, card parties, luncheons and day trips to
nearby attractions. A monthly newsletter, Tree Talk, is published.
