![]() The Village by the Arboretum (VBA) is a development of 497 single-family and town homes, as well as two mid-rise condominiums comprising of 81 units, built on a 112-acre site leased by Reid's Heritage Homes from the University of Guelph. Presently there are about 1250 Residents who call the VBA home. Located adjacent to the University's 500-acre Arboretum, the VBA offers an active adult lifestyle within the Guelph city limits and near the cultural offerings of a large university and a vibrant urban community. There is a large Recreation Centre with an indoor pool, auditorium and many activity rooms. Outdoors and within the VBA grounds are tennis courts, shuffleboard, bocce and horseshoe tossing facilities. A Residents' Association (VBARA), formed in 1994, is responsible for representing the general interests of the Village residents to the landlord, the University of Guelph, governments and other organizations. The VBARA's function is social and advisory in nature. Several committees have been established, including a Support Group, a Membership Committee and a Social Committee which organizes monthly coffee hours, card parties, luncheons and day trips to nearby attractions. A monthly newsletter, Tree Talk, is published. |
![]() More than 90 activity groups have been formed and represent a wide range of interests and pursuits. Included are card games such as bridge, euchre and poker; sports such as tennis, golf and badminton; games such as bingo, shuffleboard, billiards and horse shoes; entertainment groups such as the Village Singers, the theatre group and the film society; book, and computer clubs; crafts groups; and exercise activities.
